Happy New Year!

2018 was the first full year of the Pest Solution blog, so we thought we would look back over the past year.

A mentioned back in September, it was a bumper year for wasps that definitely kept us busy in the summer months – but it wasn’t just the wasps that had a good year in the insect world! We had a large increase in call outs for bees, hornets and ants over the summer as well as a four-fold increase in the call outs for cluster flies.

But what about rodents? Clients calling us for rats and mice problems have gone up by about 25% compared 2017. Maybe this could be something to do with the changes to the amateur rodenticides on the market early in the year.

As well as being a busy year on the road, it has also been busy in the training room. All of our staff have exceeded their BASIS Professional Register of Managers and Pest Technicians (PROMPT) Continuous Professional Development (CPD) points, which was definitely helped by team outings to the National Pest Technician’s Association (NPTA) training day and Parasitec in November.

So, what is in store for 2019?

Who knows what 2019 will hold for the insect populations and if there will be any more changes to the regulations regarding pesticide use. We will keep you updated – so watch this space!

There will be some new blog posts focusing on bedbugs and the services we can offer regarding biologist audits/inspections. We are also hoping to do a couple more “get to know the team” blogs, similar to the one about Adrian last year.

2019 is also the first time that Pest Solution will be running the updated RSPH Level 3 Award in Pest Management – so we will let you know how that goes too!

Combining an extensive knowledge of pests and a commitment to safe procedures, Pest Solution offers Pest Management that you can trust.
